- Carinthia Ironman Austria: Europe's biggest triathlon starts off in the eastern bay of lake Wörthersee in Klagenfurt where the "iron men" take part in 3.8 kilometres of swimming, then 180 km of cycling and finally 42.2 km of running – and thousands of fans spur them on along the route! - Carinthia runs ("Kärnten Läuft"): The fitness event entitled "Carinthia Runs" (Kärnten Läuft) is a credit to its name. Everyone will find the right level of sports, ranging from a kiddies run to a half marathon, every length of course and difficulty level is available. August 17-19 2012, eastern bay Klagenfurt.

- Skatepark at the Europapark Klagenfurt: In summer, the skatepark is popular meeting point for youths. On about 10 000 square metres, the area offers lots of barriers for the young artists to prove their ability. Open from April to October.
- Taking a walk through the Europapark: with a green area of about 22 hectare, the Europapark is one of the largest parks in Austria. It is located between the Lake Wörthersee and the lido Klagenfurt, and near the Lendkanal and Minimundus. Various free leisure facilities, such as open air chess, children's playground or a beach volley court offer recreation for everyone.

- 36th festival of German-language literature: In summer Klagenfurt turns into the capital of literature. The highlights of the Festival of German-language Literature ("Tage der deutschsprachigen Literatur") are readings and discussions focussing on the renowned Ingeborg Bachmann Prize. The literature week starts off with the "Klagenfurt Literature Course" (Klagenfurter Literaturkurs), in which selected authors of the future are able to work on their texts together with renowned writers. July 1 - 8 2012 at Stadttheater Klagenfurt – Last Minute Tickets – 30 minutes before begin € 10,- for children, students, apprentices, civil/military service (until the age of 26).
- Gustav Mahler Memorial: The famous composer Gustav Mahler died more than a hundred years ago - take the chance to visit the Mahler memorial site. It is only a ten-minute walk from the parking lot of Maiernigg lido, you can also easily take the bus from Klagenfurt. Opening hours: 1 May to 31 October, daily from 10 am to 4 pm, free for children until 10 years, adults: 1 Euro.
- City Gallery Klagenfurt: Special offer on Fridays! Every first Friday of the month you can enter for free and take a free tour through the current exhibition. Entry is usually free of charge for students. Opening hours: Tue-Sun 10 am -18 pm.
- Parish church tower: the 91,7 metre high parish church tower of St. Egyd has an observation platform and offers a marvelous view of the Old Town and panoramic view above the Lake Wörthersee, the Karawanken and the Koralpe. It is worth climbing the 225 stairs! "Glockenspiel" at the top of the hour. - Robert Musil House: Permanent exhibitions by Robert Musil, Ingeborg Bachmann and Christine Lavant in the house where the world-class Austrian writer was born. Open Mo-Fri 10 am – 17 pm; closed on Sundays and public holidays. Free Entry!
- Carinthia Museum of Modern Art (MMKK): The Carinthian Museum of Modern Art holds solo and theme shows of works by young as well as established regional, national and international artists. After Work – Museum at the evening: Free entry every Thursday from 6 pm – 8 pm, tour included!

- 13th International Pottery Market: The annual Pottery Market in the heart of the city centre, at Neuer Platz, is THE meeting point for lovers of ceramic arts and crafts. Here, potters and ceramic artists from all over Europe present pieces of their creative work. Utility objects, bowls, vases, ceramic jewellery, decorative objects or unique water fountains - take a look around and you're sure to find something you MUST have. August 2 - 8 2011, Neuer Platz.
- „StadtLESEN" – City Readings: listening and reading in public. Borrow a book at the book tower, take a beanbag chair and descend into the world of literature. - Südseit'n Music Festival Klagenfurt: 15 Bands from the Alps-Adria-Region present their music at various pubs of the inner city of Klagenfurt. Blues, Rock, Country, Soul ,Funk and Jazz are bound to occur. The entry is free.
